"Real change happens when every part of you feels heard, at home, at work, and inside yourself."Megan Nisenson
Clinical Expertise, Real-World Understanding
Megan Nisenson is a licensed psychotherapist and executive coach who pairs advanced clinical training, including IFS Level 3 and EMDR, with an honest, direct style. Based in Westport, CT, she sees clients in person and virtually, with therapy clients across CT, NY, FL, VT and SC and executive coaching clients nationwide.
As a wife and mother of three, Megan brings over a decade of professional expertise and a lived understanding to her work. She knows firsthand how complex and demanding family life, personal growth, and career transitions can be, and she meets her clients with warmth, empathy, and practical guidance.
Education & Background
Megan earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Fordham University and her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University. She later returned to graduate study at New York University, where she earned a Master of Science in Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting.
She built her clinical foundation in community mental health, from school-based programs at a Connecticut Youth Services Bureau to clinical supervision, in-home work with families in crisis, and family systems practice at Fairfield Counseling Services.
Since founding her private practice in Westport, CT in 2014, Megan has offered highly personalized, evidence-based care for adults, couples, and families. Her approach is grounded in deep listening, collaboration, and the belief that meaningful change is possible at any stage of life. Explore therapy services.
Clinical Approach & Advanced Training
Megan's therapy draws from a wide range of evidence-based models, including:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS), Level 3 trained
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), EMDRIA trained
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Structural Family Therapy
- Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy
- Shame-informed and trauma-responsive care
She also integrates somatic and mind-body tools when beneficial.
The same clinical foundation grounds her executive coaching practice. Megan works with leaders, founders, and professionals nationwide who want to strengthen emotional intelligence, manage burnout, communicate with greater presence, and align their values with their work. The patterns that surface in a demanding career are rarely separate from the ones that shape life at home, and she works with the whole person in both settings.
Her coaching draws on her NYU master's degree, certification in Hogan Assessments, and years of supporting high-functioning people under pressure, helping clients achieve growth that is deeper and more sustainable than performance alone.
